KS1 Toys Through Time

This day uses our fantastic handling collection to explore the history of toys through play, focusing on: old and new, materials, stories of the toys and matching pairs. The children look at how toys have changed over time, the similarities and differences between now and then. They are encouraged to imagine the life of a toy; what it is made of, who might have played with it and what kind of background its owner may have had.

We offer a stand-alone 1-hour workshop, or you can combine this with a toy making workshop and a self-led visit to our house through time, 20 Castle Street. On the top floor of the house there is a 1920’s nursery with a beautiful display of toys from the era.

We offer free use of our lunch room if you’d like to bring packed lunches.

Cost

Toys Through Time Workshop: £4.10 per child (minimum charge: £60.00).
Toy Making Workshop: £4.10 per child (minimum charge: £60.00).
Self-Led Visit to 20 Castle Street: free of charge.
All accompanying adults are free of charge.
